General Info

The Gravel Grinder will take place in beautiful downtown Boyne City On October 7th 2017. The start and finish will be at Rotary Park. The after ride party will also be held at Rotary Park, which is walking distance from downtown shops and restaurants. The parks also offers bathrooms.

PARKING

 There will be limited parking at Rotary Park and you may also park on most of the side streets.

From I-75:  take I-75 to exit 282 (M-32) Gaylord. Follow M-32 west to US-131. Take US-131 (north) to Boyne Falls, turn west onto M-75.  Follow M-75 (turns into Water Street) into Boyne City.

From US-131:  follow US-131 to Boyne Falls to M-75 (south).  Follow M-75 (turns into Water Street) into Boyne City.

From 31 South:  take US-31 to M-66 just south of Charlevoix.  Follow M-66 (south) approximately five miles to the Ironton Ferry. Take the ferry ($2.50 one way fee) to Ferry Road. Follow Ferry Road approximately 10 miles into Boyne City.

PACKET PICK-UP & START LOCATION

You may pick up your packet at Rotary Park  on Friday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. You may also pick up your packet on Saturday between 7:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.

START TIMES

The race will start from Rotary Park at 10:00 a.m.  We will have a mandatory meeting at 9:50 at the starting area.  There will be 3 mass starts.  The 60 mile racers will start at 10:00, the 40 mile racers will start at 10:15 and the 20 mile racers will start at 10:30.

TIMING

The race will be timed by disposable number plate chips.

REST & WATER STOPS

There will be well catered SAG stations every 12 miles along the route.

LUNCH

There will be a large catered lunch at Rotary Park from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.Vegetarian options will be available.

AWARDS

We will do 3 award ceremonies, one for each distance.  We will do them after most of the riders in your distance have finished.  Estimated times will be 12:30 for the 18 mile race, 2:00 for the 40 mile race and 3:00 for the 60 mile race.

VOLUNTEERS

This event will be run by volunteers, please smile and say thank-you, as that is the only payment they will be receiving.
